Online Vegan Cooking Classes from Around the World

It’s 2021 and while there is a light at the end of the tunnel of this pandemic (the vaccine!) we still need to be careful. The most responsible things we can do right now are to wear masks, social distance, and stay home whenever possible. I’ve compiled this list of online vegan cooking classes to help you fight pandemic boredom and fatigue. This is a great way to learn about different cultures and enjoy great food from the comfort of your home. Plus it’s fun for the whole family! Remember, all recipes are vegan or vegan-friendly!

Kombucha Power Hour – Canada

If you love kombucha and want to try making it, this Kombucha class is perfect for you. In this class, you will be taught by William who is a two-time Canadian Olympic Rower. He has been fermenting for over a decade and strongly believes that kombucha is a delicious way to live a healthier lifestyle. The class teaches you not only how to make kombucha but also how to make kombucha vinegar.

Hand-Pulled Noodles – China

This hand-pulled noodle experience is hosted by Brenda and Lee. In this class, you will learn how to pull the noodles so they are really long and even dance with them! Brenda and Lee will also teach you how to make a delicious sauce for the noodles as well. You will also learn about many kinds of Chinese noodles and their differences.

Soup Dumplings – China

In this class, Cici will teach you how to make Shanghainese soup dumplings. You will learn how to do everything by hand such as rolling the dough and even pinching the dumplings closed. Cici will also teach you how to make a dipping sauce that tastes amazing with the dumplings.

Beijing Style Noodles – China

This class will teach you how to make Beijing Style Noodles with Soy Bean Paste. The class is taught by 可怡 and her parents who have 40 years of experience with Chinese cuisine. This experience has options for meat-eaters, vegetarians, and vegans alike so there’s something for everyone!

Vegan Brownies – Colombia

Everyone loves brownies! This vegan brownie class is taught by Sara who chose to teach how to make vegan brownies because before going vegan she never thought she could make delicious brownies without their traditional ingredients. Sara also shares tips on different decoration techniques for the brownies. This makes it a truly wonderful online experience for birthday parties or other celebrations!

Pasta with Grandmas – Italy

There are multiple Italian pasta classes offered here with Chiara and Nonna. They do different recipes on different days of the week which you can read about on their experience listing. At the time of writing this article their classes on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays are all veg-friendly. Enjoy making different kinds of pasta with Italian grandmas in these amazing classes!

Almond Milk & Almond Pudding – Italy

This experience is truly unique since the hosts, Fabio and Annarella, aren’t just cooks, but farmers who grow almonds in Sicily! In this class for almond lovers, you will learn how to make almond first and then a traditional Sicilian dessert. The dessert is called Biancomangiare which is a kind of almond pudding.

Healthy Vegan Sushi – Japan

I don’t know about you but I absolutely love sushi! This healthy vegan sushi class is taught by sisters Fumi and Miyuki. Together they will teach you how to make delicious sushi using vegetables, beans, fruits, and rice without any fish!

Magical Soy & Japanese Vegan Tofu Dishes – Japan

This soy and vegan tofu class will teach you how you can use soy and tofu to replace meat and eggs in different recipes. The host, Nana, will teach you how to make tofu teriyaki, tofu steak, green soybean pudding, vegan mayonnaise, vegan ‘eggs’, and more!

Delicious Korean Recipes with Kimchi, Tofu, and More – Korea

Jomin grew up with parents who had a dumpling restaurant right next to their house so she has been immersed in the world of food for a long time. She has also been teaching cooking classes for five years herself. Jomin’s delicious Korean cooking classes rotate weekly so depending on the recipe you want to learn, you will have to sign up for the appropriate week. While some of the recipes contain meat, there is a note that says there are vegetarian options available. If you scroll down to the ‘What to Bring’ section, you will see that if you use mushrooms instead of meat then many of the egg-free dishes can also be made vegan too.

Mexican Fiesta Essentials – Mexico

This Mexican fiesta cooking class is hosted by Mexican chef, Graciela. I actually took one of Graciela’s other vegan taco classes in person (before the pandemic hit) and it was absolutely amazing so I would highly recommend this class too. In this class, Graciela teaches you how to make guacamole, quesadillas, and of course, margaritas!

Mexican Ferments – Mexico

This incredible Mexican fermentation class is hosted by Yasamin. In this class you will learn about the benefits of fermented foods and how to ferment any vegetable using the ‘brining technique’. You will also learn how to make Mexican sauerkraut, tepache, fermented carrot sticks and kvass.

Healthy Plant-Based Cooking Masterclass – New Zealand

Hannah teaches this plant-based masterclass which kicks off with a smoothie and education around the benefits of plant-based diets. During the class, participants will also learn how to make ‘Anytime Salad’ and healthy ‘Snicker’s Bites’. You will also be gifted access to a selection of other recipes after the class including Tempeh Noodles, Satay Jackfruit, and more.

Introduction to the Art of Fermentation – Portugal

Sonia’s passion is to “inspire people to work with nature” by learning how to “restore their health through the power of food”. In Sonia’s fermentation class you will learn about the importance of gut health. Next you will learn how to make sauerkraut and kimchi!

Vegan Food & Live Music – Spain

This Vegan Food class comes with live music! The host Gerardo will teach you how to make legume-based hamburgers. The delicious recipe is one that Gerardo and his partner Nacho used in their artisanal Vegan Factory. Live music by Jordi will also accompany you throughout the duration of the class to increase happiness while learning and eating!

Thai Snack & Chili Sauce – Thailand

In this Thai cooking class, Rachael will teach you how to make one main course and one dessert. New menus are updated every 4 weeks. At the time of writing this article, the menu shows deep-fried spring rolls and Thai sweet chili sauce. The page says vegetarian and gluten-free options are available but after reading all the ingredients in the ‘What to Bring’ section it looks to me like all the ingredients are vegan-friendly too. Just be sure to double-check them since the recipes do change every month.

German-Indian-French Meal – USA

Jhavar teaches this incredible German-Indian-French cooking class. This sounds like a vegetarian cooking class but the ingredients look vegan or at least vegan-friendly to me. In Jhavar’s class, you will learn how to make a creamy German soup, Indian Naan and Tofu Red Curry, and a French potato cake called Pommes Anna.
